Frequenty Asked Questions
What's the difference between "spot colors" and "four color process"?
Spot colors are not blends of colors that create other colors but individual colors that can be assigned PMS (Pantone Matching System) numbers.
What is dpi?
Dots per inch that measures the resolution for page printers. Most page printers are 300 dpi.
What is a color bleed?
An extra amount of printed image which extends beyond the trim edge of the sheet or page. The image would "bleed off the page" which means it has no border or white space around it.
What is the Pantone Matching System?
The Pantone Matching System, also known as the PMS color system, is a popular color matching system used by the printing industry to print specific colors. PMS match books are books of color where each PMS color has its own name or number that helps you make sure that your colors are the same each time you print, even if your monitor displays a different color or if you change printing services.
How do I place an order and have my graphic designer upload my files separately?
Either contact your sales representative and have them handle it for you or follow these easy steps:
- a. Simply click the "accept" button on your quote.
- b. Insert a note about where the files will be found (i.e, Files uploaded to the FTP site along with file name and location).
- c. Click the "confirm" button. This will generate an email to alert your sales rep that you are ready to start your print job.
How do I view my proof?
We can either send you a PDF proof for approval or your sales representative will deliver your high-res proof (for color) and a low-res proof for placement/layout. If your project is done in black and/or PMS colors, you will only receive a low-res proof.
What type of file formats can you take?
Wright's Printing has a PDF workflow which means we convert all files we receive to a high-res (300 dpi or greater) PDF. You may supply a PDF (with crop marks, bleeds and all images/fonts embedded) or you may supply us with the native files. Native files need to be in Quark, InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator. Please know that if a PDF is supplied, minimal changes can be made.
