PEFC - Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes
PEFC is a global oranization for the assessment of national forest certification programs built upon sustainable forest management principles, through a series of ongoing mechanisms supported by 149 governments in the world and covering 85 percent of the world's forest area. The PEFC Council promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
